It is estimated that between 3% and 10% of population is attracted to people of the same sex, meaning they are homosexual. Lesbian partnerships are as diverse as many other partnerships: cohabiting couples, living in different places, "married", "unmarried", polygamous, with or without children etc. Since in most European countries women are at disadvantage on the labour market, it can be assumed that lesbian couples share less income than heterosexual or gay couples.
Lesbian women and lesbian couples have to tackle with multiple discriminations like homophobia, sexism and ageism etc.
